Witch hazel

One of my favorite plants, the witch hazel. It is blooming now. NOW, DID YOU HEAR ME, NOW, IN NOVEMBER. IN WISCONSIN.

It must be confused. Much as I am. Do they usually bloom in early early spring? Say, February?

There are different species. There are some that usually bloom in november (H. virginiana?) I bought one of each type for the garden but one must have been mislabelled since they both bloom in spring (H. vernalis or something like that). There are some in front of the Wendt library and some in front of the agronomy/hort building.
